When switching your pet's food, it is important to slowly transition your pet off their old food and onto their new food. This is important because it allows your pet's digestive system to adapt to the new food smoothly without causing any upset stomachs. Here at Piccard Pets, we recommend at least a 7 day transition. If you notice any uncomfortableness on any of the day's, we recommend feeding the same ratio for an extra day to allow time to adjust.
Here is a schedule you can follow to help adjust your pet to their new food!
Day 1: 75% old food, 25% new food.
Day 2: 70% old food, 30% new food.
Day 3: 60% old food, 40% new food.
Day 4: 50% old food, 50% new food.
Day 5: 40% old food, 60% new food.
Day 6: 25% old food, 75% new food.
Day 7: 100% new food.
